Job Title: Tech Lead /Software Engineering Lead
Location: Houston, TX, Onsite, Full-Time
Role Summary
As a Tech Lead, you will lead the design and development of full-stack applications using Python (Django) and React. Play a key role in architecture decisions, hands-on coding, code quality enforcement, and mentoring engineers. Experience managing a small team, deep understanding of backend systems, front-end frameworks, and a passion for building tools that drive trading performance. High-impact role reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with traders, analysts, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-stack product development using Python (Django) and React
- Architect scalable backend systems and responsive UIs to support trading workflows
- Collaborate directly with traders and analysts to build tools for data visualization, strategy testing, and trade monitoring
- Maintain and evolve internal platforms used for reporting, risk management, and operational automation
- Manage a small team of engineers—set direction, review code, provide technical mentorship, and drive agile development
- Take ownership of end-to-end delivery including architecture, deployment, and maintenance
- Evaluate and implement best practices around CI/CD, testing, and security
- Work directly with the CEO and executive team to align technical efforts with business strategy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of professional software development experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Python, especially using Django for backend APIs
- Strong proficiency in React.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- Solid grasp of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and RESTful architecture
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
- Proven experience leading a small engineering team (2–5 developers)
- Strong problem-solving skills, clean coding practices, and performance optimization mindset
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
Preferred
- Experience building platforms for trading, analytics, or financial data workflows
- Knowledge of energy markets (ISOs like PJM, ERCOT, MISO) is a strong plus
- Exposure to time series databases and streaming data architectures

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
