Title: Associate General Counsel, Healthcare Law
Location: Primarily remote; local candidates preferred. Must have the ability to travel onsite to our locations in Massachusetts as needed.
Job Overview
This position responsible for providing strategic legal advice for the health system, including its hospitals, agencies and physician organizations. This position will provide counsel on general healthcare issues, privacy and regulatory matters, and will review, draft and negotiate a wide array of contracts, with a focus on contracts for general goods and services, consulting services, shared and managed services, physician employment agreements, business associate agreements, grants funding, collaboration agreements, data use agreements, and clinical trials, material transfers and research agreements. This position may serve on hospital committees and participate in working groups as needed, providing practical legal guidance on regulatory, contracting, privacy, and operational matters. This position will advise hospital departmental leaders on a range of commercial, legal, privacy and regulatory matters, and will support organizational initiatives and handle special projects and other duties as assigned.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctorate.
2. Licensed or eligible to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3. Five (5) years of legal experience working in the area of healthcare law.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Eight (8) years of legal experience working in the area of healthcare law.

1. Provides expert legal advice and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to a wide array of healthcare laws and regulations.
2. Manages litigation and dispute resolution to minimize organizational risk.
3. Drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts.
4. Supports corporate governance practices.
5. Supports policy development and collaborates with external counsel and regulatory agencies.
6. Monitors legal and regulatory changes impacting business operations.
7. Provides strategic legal insights and guidance to senior leadership.
8. Models and reinforces ethical behavior in self and others by adhering to organizational policies and guidelines, support compliance initiatives, conduct business with honesty, show consistency in words and actions, and follow through on commitments.
9. Effective consensus builder with strong negotiation, persuasion and communication skills to propose enhancements to operational processes to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness.
10. Strong advocate for the desired culture in high-level planning and decision making, with a focus on performance accountability and achieving greater operational efficiencies.
Physical Requirements:
1. Professional office environment with typical office requirements such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
2. This is largely a sedentary role, which involves sitting most of the time, but may involve movements such as walking, standing, reaching, ascending / descending stairs and operate office equipment.
3. Frequently required to speak, hear, communicate and exchange information.
4. Able to see and read computers displays, read fine print, and/or normal type size print and distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
5. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

12. Proven competence as an Attorney working for a Corporate Law Firm, with in-house experience preferred but not required.
13. Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment with an understanding of hospital operations and medical terminology.
Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on ensuring the organization's business activities are conducted ethically and in compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and standards. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Legal Counsel duties: Provides legal advice/counsel in business-related areas, researches, analyzes, and interprets proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations, identifies, monitors and addresses issues of legal risk, structures, drafts, negotiates and/or approves legal contracts, letters of agreement, policies and other documents, represents/advocates for an organization in litigation, arbitration, mediation or other disputes with courts, government agencies, or other legal authorities. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. A senior level role that requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Typically responsible for: managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision, coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals, resolving difficult and sometimes complex problems.

$147,995.12 - $188,688.50
