Duties
- Greet patients warmly and process pharmacy transactions with precision using pharmacy software systems
- Verify prescription details, insurance information, and patient data entry to ensure accuracy
- Assist patients in understanding medication pick-up procedures and answer basic inquiries about pharmacy services
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with state and federal healthcare regulations
- Support pharmacy staff with medication inventory management, including stock checks and storage compliance
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulatory standards during all transactions and data handling
- Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and pharmacists on medication dispensing, compounding medications, and sterile IV admixture procedures when needed
Skills
- Prior experience in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, community pharmacy, or hospital pharmacy settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug regulation, medical terminology, and pharmacological medical terminology
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and data entry processes for accurate record keeping
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with diverse patient populations
- Understanding of sterile IV infusion techniques, aseptic procedures, and sterile IV admixture procedures is a plus
- Ability to adhere strictly to state healthcare laws, drug regulation policies, and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards
- Basic life support certification is preferred to support patient care activities when necessary
