DPL is hiring multiple on-call Librarian positions. This public-facing role spends 75% of its time directly serving the community by welcoming all customers, guiding technology navigation, and delivering exceptional reference and advisory services. Grounded in a commitment to honor public trust and challenge inequity, you will foster curiosity through engaging displays, diverse all-ages programming, and meaningful community outreach. As a resilient, collaborative, and flexible team player, you will strengthen internal and external networks, appreciate colleagues' strengths, and seamlessly step in to support library operations and emergency coverage wherever needed to advance DPL's larger mission.

Excellent customer service skills
Demonstrate a commitment to developing and maintaining a welcoming environment for young people, including babies, toddlers, preschoolers, grade schoolers, and teens.
Knowledge of publishing trends.
Knowledge and experience with developing and presenting storytimes for young children as well as adult programming
Skill in using and assisting customers with technology
Skill in providing reference, readers and media advisory service to all ages
Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups
Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers and community

Master's Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program or currently enrolled in an American Library Association accredited program for a Master's Degree in Library Science and must obtain a degree within 6 months of hire date.
One (1) of experience solving problems and providing customer service to business or public clients.

While you may be hired for a specific location, please know that we are hiring with the expectation that at any time, you may be required to work at any one of our branches based on operational needs. This allows our staff to experience the full breadth of Denver's communities and ensures we consistently deliver the highest level of service across our branches.
Additionally, DPL employees may be redeployed to work in other locations or capacities to support core functions of the library system during branch closures or other emergencies.
DPL on-call staff are essential to our operations and may be assigned to work at any of our library locations. This customer-facing role requires a commitment to shifts selected to work. On-call staffers are required to work a minimum of 75 hours per quarter (300 hours annually) and are capped at 1,500 hours per year.
