We're seeking a dynamic, motivated Infection Prevention Nurse (LVN or RN) who is passionate about protecting resident health, driving quality outcomes, and helping us maintain our 5-Star quality standards. Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention and control programs aligned with CDC guidelines and long-term care regulations.
- Conduct patient observations, monitor infectious disease care, and review medical records to ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Collect and analyze data related to infection rates, compliance metrics, and outbreak investigations to inform policy adjustments.
- Educate staff on infection prevention practices, including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), microbiology principles, and OSHA standards.
- Review documentation, care plans, and medical terminology for accuracy; ensure meticulous recordkeeping in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Lead team efforts in managing disease prevention policies, outbreak response procedures, and epidemiology tracking within the facility.
- Collaborate with management to develop strategies that enhance patient safety, reduce infection risks, and promote public health initiatives.
Skills
- Proven experience in critical care settings such as hospital or Level I/II trauma centers; assisted living or long-term care experience is highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise, including CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, and long-term care regulations.
- Expertise in microbiology, anatomy, physiology, infectious diseases (public health), and disease prevention policies.
- Proficiency in data management, collection, documentation review, medical records management, and epidemiology analysis.
- Excellent patient observation skills coupled with acute care experience for effective monitoring of infectious diseases.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in team management; capable of training staff on infection control practices and fostering a culture of safety.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA; ability to interpret complex health regulation policies accurately.
