Sunstates Security is hiring Weekend Data Center Shift Leads in the Ashburn, VA area. Weekdays & Weekends are available! These positions offer a pay rate of $28.50/hr, with weekly pay.

Position Overview
Sunstates Security is seeking experienced Security Shift Leads to support a critical infrastructure data center environment. This position combines hands-on security operations with shift-level leadership and oversight. Shift Leads are responsible for supporting daily security operations, providing direction to assigned Security Officers, ensuring compliance with established procedures and service level agreements (SLAs), and serving as a primary escalation point during their assigned shift.
Primary Responsibilities
Security Shift Leads will be expected to:

Provide operational leadership and direction to Security Officers assigned to the shift.

Ensure all assigned posts are properly staffed, officers are prepared for duty, and shift responsibilities are clearly communicated.

Conduct shift briefings and pass-downs to ensure continuity of operations, awareness of open incidents, and communication of client or management directives.

Monitor and protect critical infrastructure environments through proactive security operations and alarm management.

Conduct routine interior and exterior patrols, inspections, and security assessments.

Monitor officer patrol activity and post performance to ensure required duties are completed accurately and on schedule.

Respond to alarms, incidents, and security events in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs) and escalation protocols.

Serve as the initial leadership escalation point for security incidents, operational concerns, and officer-related issues occurring during the assigned shift.

Coordinate incident response activities and ensure appropriate notifications and escalations are completed in a timely manner.

Process and oversee access requests, access revocations, credential management, and visitor authorization requests.

Create and manage badges, biometric credentials, and access control permissions.

Perform and verify daily audits of CCTV, access control, and security systems to ensure operational readiness.

Review Power BI dashboards and operational reports to identify alarm response deficiencies, compliance concerns, and opportunities for improvement.

Review daily activity reports, incident reports, pass-downs, and other required documentation for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate escalation.

Provide coaching and immediate corrective guidance to Security Officers when performance or procedural concerns are identified.

Assist with training and onboarding of new Security Officers assigned to the site.

Communicate effectively with client stakeholders, security management, and operational teams regarding incidents, staffing concerns, and shift activities.

Maintain a professional leadership presence and promote accountability, teamwork, customer service, and operational excellence throughout the shift.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Active Virginia DCJS Security Officer Registration.
-
Ability to obtain and maintain Maryland and Washington, D.C. security credentials as required.

Minimum three (3) years of experience in security, security operations, critical infrastructure, data centers, military operations, law enforcement, or comparable environments.

Prior leadership, supervisory, team lead, or demonstrated senior-level security experience preferred.

Experience working with access control, CCTV, alarm monitoring, or enterprise security platforms.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, and data entry applications.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with Security Officers, management, clients, and other stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to provide direction, maintain accountability, and make sound operational decisions with limited supervision.

Demonstrated report writing, documentation, incident management, and escalation experience.
-
Ability to remain calm and provide leadership during emergencies, critical incidents, and rapidly changing operational situations.
-
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred.

Reliable transportation required; site is not accessible by public transportation.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The strongest candidates will possess:

Prior experience as a Security Shift Lead, Lead Officer, Supervisor, or senior Security Officer.

Experience working in data centers, critical infrastructure, Security Operations Centers (SOC), or enterprise security environments.

Demonstrated ability to lead personnel while remaining actively engaged in day-to-day security operations.

Experience conducting shift briefings, post inspections, incident response, and employee coaching.
-
Strong knowledge of access control systems, CCTV platforms, alarm monitoring, and incident response procedures.

Experience with enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow, CCure, Genetec, Lenel, BioConnect, or similar systems.

Strong situational awareness and the ability to prioritize multiple operational issues simultaneously.

Excellent report writing, documentation, and communication skills.

Ability to identify performance or procedural deficiencies and provide immediate direction when appropriate.

Professional judgment and the ability to escalate significant concerns to management appropriately.

Strong commitment to accountability, customer service, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Available schedules include:
Evening Shift

Friday – Monday | 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Overnight Shift

A Security Shift Lead may perform a multitude of duties as specified by the Post Orders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Shift Lead is expected to become thoroughly knowledgeable of all Post Orders and SOPs, provide direction to assigned personnel, and act quickly and effectively in accordance with established procedures and client expectations.
