Jacob is a 21 year old young man with severe autism. He is very active and at times can show aggression in the form of light smacking. We have pads and different techniques to prevent anybody getting hurt. He is smart and requires constant supervision. He uses simple one word requests to communicate. He is part of a loving family that will be there to assist and train.
We are looking for a male Psychiatric Technician or person with experience working with young adults under the Autism spectrum. We are looking for someone to work on the weekends and a few late afternoons during the weekThe candidate will be on call for regular and urgent patient needs, and is required to have a passion for psychiatry as well as home health care.
The ideal candidate should be in very good physical shape and have the strength to handle and keep up with a 160 lbs young man. Please be able to hike, run and swim. We prefer hands-on experience with psychiatric/autism patients of all ages, or a willingness to learn how to handle our young man with severe autism. We will train and provide all the necessary support.
Responsibilities:
- Assist our 21 year old young man with severe autism with daily routine, self-care activities, such as dressing, toileting and feeding.
- Provide one-on-one care that focuses on improving behavior with a consistent plan of action and activities like hiking, running and swimming.
- Observe and guide our young man in order to keep him safe and healthy throughout the day.
- Ability to keep up with our young man that will keep you on your toes.
- Assist during evenings to get him ready for bed, give medication, etc.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
