Duties
- Assess patients’ functional abilities and develop personalized care plans to improve activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
- Document patient progress accurately, ensuring compliance with medical terminology and documentation standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including speech therapists, physical therapists, physicians, educators, and case managers to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on therapy techniques, adaptive equipment use, and strategies to support ongoing development and independence
- Recommend adaptive aid equipment and minor home modifications that meet ADA standards
Qualifications
- Valid license or certification as an Occupational Therapist in Texas
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, and special education needs
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and evidence-based occupational therapy practices
- Familiarity with medical documentation standards
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills to educate clients
