Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Ophthalmology Medical Biller to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in medical coding, billing processes, and ophthalmology-specific procedures. As an Ophthalmology Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and processing claims, managing medical records, and ensuring timely collections to optimize revenue flow while maintaining compliance with industry standards.
Duties
- Submit and follow up on insurance claims
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
- Manage claim denials and appeals
- Post payments and reconcile accounts
- Ensure accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Maintain compliance with payer and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with providers and administrative staff
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing within an ophthalmology or specialized medical practice environment.
- Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and DRG classifications relevant to ophthalmology procedures.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and insurance claim processes.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and documentation purposes.
- Excellent understanding of medical collection practices and insurance reimbursement protocols.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accurate coding and timely billing submissions.
- Prior experience in medical office operations is required; familiarity with ophthalmology-specific procedures is a plus.
