Overview
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Medical Assistant / Front Desk Coordinator to join our fast-paced cardiology practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in both clinical and administrative duties, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume medical office environment.
This position requires someone who can take initiative, multitask effectively, and provide exceptional patient care while supporting providers and office operations.
Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Obtain and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, and oxygen saturation.
- Perform and document EKGs.
- Prepare patients for examination and assist providers as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records within the EMR system.
- Follow clinical protocols and infection control procedures.
Administrative Duties
- Answer incoming phone calls professionally and efficiently.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
- Collect patient balances, copayments, and outstanding payments.
- Assist with insurance authorizations and referrals.
- Check patients in and out.
- Maintain organized patient records and documentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and referring providers.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a medical office setting.
- Experience working in a cardiology practice preferred.
- Knowledge of EKG procedures and obtaining vital signs.
- Experience with insurance authorizations and referrals.
- Strong front desk and patient scheduling experience.
- Experience collecting patient balances and copays.
- Ability to manage a high-volume office environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficient with EMR systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent certification.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish/Creole) strongly preferred.
- Prior cardiology experience.
- Knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization processes.
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
