KOS, Inc. is seeking engaging, knowledgeable instructors to join our team and share their skills with children ages 5–11 during Cobb County school breaks and scheduled school closures.
KOS is a nonprofit educational organization focused on Building Confidence through Knowledge. Our programs give children opportunities to learn practical, creative, and academic skills through hands-on, workshop-style instruction.
Disciplines We're Seeking
We are currently looking for instructors with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Music
- Visual Arts
- Culinary Arts / Cooking
- STEM
- Carpentry / Woodworking
- Theatre / Performing Arts
- Sewing
- Weaving
- Knitting
We are also open to instructors with other unique, hands-on skills that would make an engaging workshop for elementary-aged children.
Position Overview
KOS instructors lead small-group, hands-on classes during our school-break camps. Instructors should be comfortable taking their knowledge or professional skill and turning it into an engaging experience for children.
This is an excellent opportunity for artists, musicians, makers, tradespeople, educators, performers, engineers, culinary professionals, and other skilled individuals who enjoy teaching children but may not be looking for a traditional classroom position.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead age-appropriate, hands-on lessons and projects.
- Create an encouraging environment where children can learn, experiment, and build confidence.
- Provide instruction appropriate for children ages 5–11.
- Work collaboratively with KOS staff and camp counselors.
- Maintain a safe, organized instructional environment.
- Communicate supply, equipment, and classroom needs in advance.
Schedule & Availability
This is a part-time, 1099 independent contractor position with work primarily scheduled around the Cobb County School District calendar.
Applicants must be available to work during scheduled Cobb County school closures, including:
- Fall Break
- Thanksgiving Break
- Winter Break
- February Break
- Spring Break
- Digital Learning Days and other scheduled school closures
- Summer Break
Hours and number of days will vary based on the KOS camp calendar and instructor availability.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for people who:
- Have demonstrated knowledge or experience in their discipline.
- Enjoy working with elementary-aged children.
- Can make learning interactive, approachable, and fun.
- Are dependable, organized, and comfortable leading a group.
- Believe children benefit from opportunities to create, build, perform, problem-solve, and learn by doing.
- Can successfully complete any required background screening.
Teaching experience is a plus, but a traditional teaching degree is not required. Professional, trade, artistic, technical, or practical experience in your discipline is highly valued.
