Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated In-Home Caretaker to provide exceptional support and assistance to individuals in a group home setting. As an In-Home Caretaker, you will play a crucial part in enhancing quality of life through attentive caregiving, meticulous monitoring, and compassionate support. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking.
- Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
- Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, patient observations, medication administration, and any incidents or changes in condition.
- Engage in cleaning duties to uphold hygiene standards within the home or care environment, including laundry and general tidying.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and update personalized care plans that address each client’s unique needs.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive environment for clients with intellectual disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Use appropriate manual handling techniques and assist with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts to ensure safety for both caregiver and client.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings.
- Strong patient observation skills with the ability to detect subtle changes in health or behavior.
- Familiarity with medication administration, vital signs measurement, CPR/First Aid certification, and HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to assist with ADLs efficiently while maintaining dignity and respect for clients’ independence.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting, manual handling tasks, and assisting clients with mobility challenges.
- Compassionate caregiving approach combined with strong organizational skills for managing multiple responsibilities safely.
- Knowledge of home & community care practices along with long-term care procedures to provide comprehensive support.
