SYEP Facilitator (Seasonal Youth Program)
Location: Queens, NY
Job Type: Seasonal, Part-Time (30 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Reports To: SYEP Education Coordinator
Queens Community House is a multi-site nonprofit organization serving the diverse communities of Queens through youth, adult, and family programs. Our mission is to empower individuals and families to build healthy, inclusive communities while advancing social and economic justice.
Queens Community House is seeking motivated, Queens-based community members to serve as SYEP Facilitators for our Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Facilitators will work directly with youth ages 14–15, delivering service-learning and workforce readiness curriculum designed to build confidence, job skills, and career awareness.

Facilitate two in-person classes daily using a structured SYEP curriculum

Lead workshops on:

Financial literacy

Career exploration and goal setting

Resume writing and interview skills
-
Professional soft skills
-
Transferable skill identification
-
Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

Supervise youth during off-site trips and activities
-
Track attendance, participation, and performance using data tools

Communicate regularly with program supervisors

Attend required staff meetings and supervision sessions

Experience leading groups required

Experience serving as a facilitator or co‑facilitator preferred, but not required

Experience working with teens ages 14–15 preferred, including informal, volunteer, academic, or community-based settings

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required, especially in education, youth development, social services, or a related field

Ability to serve as a positive role model and build meaningful connections with youth from diverse backgrounds

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
-
Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to participants’ heritage, traditions, and lived experiences

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion

Organized, dependable, and committed to youth development

Teaching, mentoring, or coaching skills preferred but not required

Must be able to pass NYC PETS Clearance

Must be willing to complete three professional reference checks
