Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in various settings, including home health, assisted living, nursing homes, and community-based programs. This vital role involves assisting clients with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring their safety and comfort. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe changes in health status to report promptly to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and preparation.
- Support medication administration following care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide patient personal care assistance with compassion, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
- Support clients during community outings or appointments using personal transportation assistance when needed.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and assist in updating individualized care plans regularly.
- Engage in patient observation for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other neurodevelopmental disorders, ensuring their safety through attentive supervision.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to facilitate safe patient transfers and prevent injury.
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of dementia care, memory care, Alzheimer’s care, hospice care, or geriatrics enhances your ability to support complex needs effectively.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is advantageous.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques including vital signs measurement and medication administration is essential.
- Proven ability to follow detailed care plans while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations is required.
- Hands-on experience with manual handling techniques like patient transfer methods or heavy lifting ensures safe support for clients.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration are vital to delivering consistent quality care.
