Job Description
The Medical Technologist provides clinical laboratory services by accurately performing and evaluating diagnostic technical procedures in accordance with the established regulatory and accreditation standards for clinical lab science. Diagnostic procedures performed may include chemistry, microbiology, hemostasis, hematology, blood banking, urinalysis and phlebotomy. Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and acts as a resource to staff and the general public regarding assigned areas of responsibility. Shriners Spokane is looking for a part-time Medical Technologist to join our team!
Key Responsibilities:
Plans and utilizes resources within the department to maximize efficiency
Resolves basic equipment problems or malfunctions, overseeing the maintenance and serving as a resource to staff
Evaluates and orders inventory of laboratory supplies with approval of manager
Reviews all pertinent patient results to ensure all quality assurance mechanisms have been adhered to
Checks for outdated supplies and materials and insufficient quantities
Demonstrates a knowledge and ability to interact with laboratory information system (LIS) and/or hospital information system (HIS) computer functions as it relates to the testing and reporting area.
Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities within the Department and the Hospital
Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established time-lines
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Medical Technology, CLS or Science
1 year Clinical Laboratory
MLT (ASCP), CLS or Equivalent certification
Medical Technologist License in state of practice
Preferred Qualifications:
The pay range for this position is $29.23 - $43.85. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
