Why does the job exist?
The Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Rooted in New Mexico Manager will:
Support implementation and operational oversight of the Rooted in New Mexico initiative within the New Mexico Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Program;
Coordinate workforce development, recruitment, training, retention, and pipeline-building activities designed to strengthen the rural health workforce across rural, frontier, and Tribal communities in New Mexico;
Support implementation of the RHT governance structure by coordinating with providers, educational institutions, workforce partners, contractors, and state agencies to support workforce-related implementation activities aligned with CMS requirements and State priorities.
How does it get done?
The RHT Rooted in New Mexico Manager is responsible for:
Leading implementation and operational coordination for the Rooted in New Mexico initiative, including workforce pipeline development, rural recruitment and retention, training and education partnerships, clinical rotations, apprenticeships, residencies, workforce incentives, and service commitment programs;
Coordinating with providers, educational institutions, workforce organizations, contractors, state agencies, and external stakeholders to support approved work-plans, operational workflows, stakeholder engagement, and funding activities;
Monitoring initiative progress, milestones, operational risks, and workforce-related performance activities across assigned work-streams;
Developing implementation materials, executive briefings, workforce analyses, stakeholder-facing communications, and tracking tools;
Coordinating meetings, provider engagement activities, workforce discussions, and learning opportunities related to rural workforce development;
Collaborating with Program Management Office (PMO) leadership, operations, finance, communications, procurement, and data and evaluation staff to support aligned implementation across the RHT Program portfolio;
Supporting sustainability planning, reporting and stakeholder engagement activities for the Rooted in New Mexico initiative.

Work is performed for the Health Care Authority (HCA), the RHT Program Management Office, providers, educational institutions, workforce organizations, contractors, state agencies, CMS, and program stakeholders to support implementation and coordination of the Rooted in New Mexico initiative within the Rural Health Transformation Program.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional level experience with a tactical impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office setting with extensive use of a computer, phone, virtual meeting platforms, and Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) equipment. Position may require prolonged sitting, coordination of virtual and in-person meetings, review of operational and workforce-related documentation, and occasional in-state travel for provider engagement, educational partnerships, trainings, workforce meetings, or implementation activities.
