Job Summary
We are looking for a Data and AI Governance Specialist to help federal clients establish trusted, compliant, and practical governance practices for data and artificial intelligence initiatives. This role is responsible for developing governance frameworks, policies, controls, documentation, and operating models that support responsible data use, model transparency, privacy, security, and mission outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data governance and AI governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating procedures.
- Support governance activities for data quality, metadata management, data stewardship, lineage, access controls, privacy, and compliance.
- Help define responsible AI practices including model documentation, risk assessment, transparency, human oversight, and lifecycle governance
- Partner with business, data, security, privacy, legal, and technical stakeholders to align governance practices with mission needs.
- Facilitate governance of working groups, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and decision forums.
- Assess current state governance maturity and recommend practical improvements.
- Support development of data inventories, data catalogs, stewardship models, and issue management processes
- Document governance decisions, roles, responsibilities, approval workflows, and control processes.
- Monitor emerging federal guidance and industry practices related to data governance, AI risk management, privacy, and responsible AI.
- Prepare clear reports, briefings, and executive-ready materials for client and internal leadership.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
· Bachelor's degree with 10+ years or master's degree with 8+ years of experience in data governance, information management, analytics, risk management, privacy, compliance, or related federal consulting work.
· Experience developing governance frameworks, policies, standards, procedures, or control documentation.
· Understanding of data lifecycle management, data quality, metadata, stewardship, access management, and compliance concepts.
· Experience supporting federal government clients or highly regulated environments.
· Strong written communication skills with the ability to turn complex governance concepts into usable guidance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AI governance, responsible AI, model risk management, NIST AI RMF, or related AI risk frameworks.
· Familiarity with federal data strategy, privacy, security, records management, or data sharing requirements.
· Experience with data catalog, governance, or metadata tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or similar platforms.
· Ability to facilitate decision-making across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups.
· Experience in healthcare, CMS, financial management, claims, program integrity, or public sector data environments.
