Overview
The Art Assistant supports the artist and creative team by performing a variety of tasks that help streamline the artistic process and maintain an efficient workspace. This is a part-time Independent Contractor (1099) position, not an employee position. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and will have flexibility in scheduling based on project and business needs.
Duties
Sketching
- Create preliminary sketches or rough drafts based on provided concepts and instructions.
Canvas Preparation
- Open, stretch, and prepare canvases for painting, ensuring proper sizing and readiness for use.
Paint Preparation
- Fill paint containers, mix colors as directed, and organize paint supplies for easy access during creative sessions.
Studio Organization
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including arranging tools, cleaning brushes, and storing materials properly.
Material Management
- Monitor inventory of art supplies, restock materials as needed, and assist with sourcing supplies.
Project Support
- Assist with specific art projects, including surface preparation, applying base layers, and other production tasks as directed.
Administrative & Delivery Tasks
- Assist with occasional deliveries, supply pickups, and other support tasks as needed.
Equipment Maintenance
- Clean and maintain brushes, palettes, easels, and other studio equipment to ensure proper functionality and longevity.
Other Duties
- Perform additional project-related tasks that support the artist, studio operations, and creative workflow.
Skills & Qualifications
- Basic sketching and drawing skills.
- Familiarity with common art materials, including acrylic paints, brushes, canvases, and mixed media supplies.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently.
- Reliable transportation for occasional deliveries or supply pickups.
- Ability to lift and carry art supplies and materials when necessary.
