Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and review engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients. The Tax Manager will ensure accurate, timely delivery of individual, corporate, and partnership tax services, mentor and supervise staff, and provide technical tax guidance. This role requires a licensed CPA and strong leadership, technical tax knowledge, and client management skills. EA credential and experience with review engagements are a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.

Lead tax provision calculations, year-end tax accounting, and coordinate with finance and audit teams as needed.

Conduct technical tax research and apply tax law changes to client engagements and internal processes.

Supervise, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals; assign work, review deliverables, and conduct performance feedback.

Serve as primary client contact for tax strategy, planning opportunities, and issue resolution; build and maintain strong client relationships.

Perform review engagements and quality control reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with professional standards.

Identify tax planning opportunities and help implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities and manage risk.

Manage engagement timelines, budgets, and resources to meet deadlines and firm/client expectations.

Coordinate with external advisors, state and federal authorities, and support tax notices and audit processes as required.

Drive process improvements, automation, and knowledge sharing to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Qualifications
-
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required and in good standing.

5+ years of progressive tax experience, including time leading small teams or engagements; Tax Manager experience strongly preferred.

Experience preparing and reviewing individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns; familiarity with review engagements and tax provision work.

Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred but not required.

Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax law, tax research tools, and tax software (e.g., UltraTax, GoSystems, ProSystem fx, or equivalent).

Proven supervisory experience with ability to mentor staff, delegate tasks, and review complex workpapers and filings.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience advising clients and presenting technical concepts clearly.

Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required; advanced degree or MST is a plus.

High ethical standards and commitment to quality, with familiarity with professional standards for review and compilation engagements.
