Education & Training: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Required Licenses/Certifications Current RN Licensure, either Texas or Compact is required.
BLS and ACLS certification are required upon hire.
Work Experience 2 to 4 years of Preassessment experience preferred
Physical Demands & Working Conditions Ability to stand/walk between 6 to 10 hours and sit between 1-2 hours. Requires the motion to crawl, climb, and reach up to 1/3 of the time. Bend, squat, lift, carry, push, and pull 1/3 or more of the time. Continuous use of hands in gross and precise motor function. Lift up to and more than 50 pounds up to 1/3 of the time. Lift up to 25 pounds 1/3 or more of the time. Body fluid exposure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation form.
- Confirms patient identity via use of two patient identifiers and checks patient identification bracelet before procedures.
- Provides appropriate updates, instructions and patient education information to patient and family.
- Follows the hospital exposure control plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens.
- Communicates with peer and management any safety hazards identified in the workplace.
- Demonstrates an understanding of cultural differences.
- Participates in the performance improvement process within the Hospital and department.
- Delivers nursing care to assigned group of patients including education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, treatment planning, pain management and discharge planning utilizing the nursing process.
- Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
- · Establishes a compassionate environment providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends and families.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards: measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards: making or recommending necessary adjustments: following the standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act and other governing agency requirements.
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patients’ conditions.
- Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
- Modify patients’ nursing care plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
- Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information as observed by peers and management.
- Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance
- May be asked to perform in the role of Charge Nurse and may be tasked with additional responsibilities as directed.
- Attends all required department-specific education and training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job‑related hazards
- Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions
- Wears proper identification while on duty
