Data Platform Architect
Location: Harrisburg, PA – Hybrid

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Platform Architect to help design, build, and evolve a large-scale enterprise data platform supporting modern digital services, analytics, data products, and AI initiatives. This is a senior technical leadership role combining enterprise architecture with hands-on platform engineering. The Data Platform Architect will define platform architecture, establish engineering and security standards, develop reusable cloud capabilities, and partner with technical teams across the enterprise to implement scalable solutions. The ideal candidate has extensive experience building enterprise-scale cloud data platforms from the ground up and can operate effectively across data architecture, cloud infrastructure, security, DevSecOps, and platform engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the architecture and multi-year roadmap for an enterprise cloud data platform.
- Design and build scalable, secure, multi-tenant data platform capabilities using AWS/Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, and containerized technologies.
- Establish platform engineering standards, reusable services, architecture patterns, and operational guardrails.
- Build and manage cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform.
- Implement enterprise security controls including IAM, RBAC, encryption, auditing, and DevSecOps practices.
- Partner with Cloud Engineering, CISO/Security, GRC, data, integration, and product teams to deliver enterprise solutions.
- Develop standardized onboarding patterns and reusable capabilities for teams adopting the platform.
- Support enterprise data products, analytics, digital services, and AI-ready infrastructure.
- Drive API-first, cloud-native, and product-based approaches to data sharing.
- Provide technical leadership and influence architecture and engineering decisions across multiple teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Programming, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of experiencedesigning and building large-scale cloud data platforms.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience across modern data architecture, platform engineering, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure.
- Experience designing and implementing modern enterprise data platforms using Snowflake and/or Databricks.
- Strong experience designing enterprise security controls for cloud data platforms, including IAM and RBAC.
- Proven experience building and operating cloud infrastructure using Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code technologies.
- Hands-on experience implementing modern DevSecOps practices and shift-left security.
- Experience with containerized applications and cloud-native architecture.
- Demonstrated experience building shared platforms that support multiple teams, business units, or organizations.
- Experience partnering with Cloud Engineering, Security/CISO, and GRC organizations.
Preferred Profile
- Experience building an enterprise data platform or cloud platform from the ground up.
- Experience developing reusable platform services, architecture patterns, and engineering frameworks.
- Strong understanding of multi-tenant platform architecture and secure data isolation.
- Experience supporting enterprise analytics, AI/ML, or AI-ready infrastructure.
- Ability to balance long-term architecture strategy with hands-on technical execution.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to lead through influence across highly distributed technical organizations.

Pay: Up to $130.00 per hour
