We are looking for a self-motivated legal assistant to ensure smooth running of a team of attorneys and effective management of a heavy and active case load. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of multiple attorneys and a senior paralegal.
Responsibilities
- Handle communication with clients, witnesses, court clerks, opposing counsel, and vendors
- Schedule and coordinate attendance at hearings in court, arbitration, and mediation
- Draft discovery requests and discovery responses
- Draft pleadings, including both judicial council forms and original pleadings
- Draft correspondence to clients and opposing counsel, including emails and formal correspondence
- Monitor and manage a comprehensive calendar by updating calendar entries with briefing schedules, hearings, calls, meetings, and related deadlines
- Work with experts to prepare for mediation, motion hearings, and trial
- Conduct factual investigation into case relevant information
Skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
- Some working experience as legal assistant or legal secretary is preferred but not required
- Some familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system is preferred but not required
- Computer literacy
- Proficiency in English and Spanish
