Job Overview
Grace & Ruby’s is seeking a reliable, personable, and hospitality-driven Bartender / Barista to join our mid-day team. This role bridges our daytime café service and evening bar operations, making it ideal for someone comfortable working with both coffee and cocktails in a neighborhood-focused environment.
The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, self-motivated, and able to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests throughout the day. This shift plays an important role in transitioning the space from café service into nighttime bar operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso drinks, coffee beverages, cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks
- Provide attentive and friendly customer service to café and bar guests
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and coffee stations throughout the shift
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately using the POS system
- Assist with daytime food service, including warming and preparing light menu items
- Restock bar and café supplies, garnishes, syrups, milk, cups, and glassware
- Help transition the space from daytime café service into evening bar service
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate low stock items to management
- Follow all NYC Department of Health and alcohol service regulations
- Assist with prep work, side work, and maintaining an organized workspace during slower periods
- Support events, happy hour service, and neighborhood regulars with a hospitality-first attitude
Qualifications
- Previous bartending, barista, or hospitality experience preferred
- Comfortable making espresso drinks and basic cocktails
- NYC Food Protection Certificate / Department of Health card required
- Strong multitasking and time management skills
- Ability to work independently during daytime and transition periods
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Weekend availability preferred
