We're looking for a Friction Engineer to help develop and improve friction materials. This is a highly visible role where you'll work directly with product development, manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to bring new materials from concept to production.
What You'll Do
- Develop semi-metallic, non-asbestos organic (NAO) and other friction materials for industrial and specialty applications
- Design, execute, and analyze material development and validation programs
- Lead projects from formulation through testing, pilot production, and commercialization
- Support manufacturing during scale-up, process validation, and production launches
- Conduct material characterization and failure analysis using laboratory and analytical tools
- Collaborate closely with operations, quality, engineering, suppliers, and customers
- Document technical findings and present recommendations to stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in products and processes
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in friction materials, composites, polymers, engineered materials, or related product development environments
- Experience with material formulation, testing, and validation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in both laboratory and manufacturing environments
Preferred
- Experience developing friction materials a wide area of applications
- Familiarity with mixing, molding, curing, and finishing processes
- Experience with analytical tools such as DSC, TGA, FTIR, microscopy, or related characterization methods
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
