Job Summary
The Environmental Services Aide's primary responsibility is the provision of services relating to all aspects of cleaning and sanitizing of patient rooms and public areas of the hospital. The Environmental aide works closely with all departments in patient and public settings, performing their work responsibilities in a professional and courteous manner. Environmental Service employees may also be responsible for meeting room setups, moving projects, and other aspects of operations that relate to the physical environment of Montefiore Nyack Hospital.
Essential Functions
- JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the required job specific technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities. * 1. Demonstrates proficiency in cleaning bathrooms, including sink fixtures, pipes, commodes, over head dusting, partitions, mirrors, etc., sinks, wall tile, floor, corners and edges. 2. Demonstrates proficiency in patient room cleaning by sanitizing bed, furniture and equipment with germicidal disinfectant in all patient room cleaning; dust all horizontal surfaces and furniture, wipe/wash down all vertical surfaces, high dust all overhead venting. 3. Demonstrates proficiency and efficiency in discharge cleaning patient rooms for occupancy and making beds within 60 minutes of discharge; Maintains contact with Bed Control office upon completion of all discharge clean patient rooms 4. Performs the cleaning and trash removal of assigned areas, including patient and non-patient units. 5. Collects and removes trash and linen, following trash and linen procedures of transport and removal. 6. Dust mops all flooring in assigned area; wet mops all flooring using a germicidal detergent using appropriate dilution ratios. 7. Burnishes all flooring in assigned areas as scheduled and assigned (as appropriate). 8. Perform all other duties as assigned or requested.

Provides escort to customers when necessary.
