American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with gynecology and labor & delivery experience for a night shift OR position at a teaching hospital.
-
Work in a General OR and Labor & Delivery setting within a teaching hospital
-
Adult patient population
-
Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
-
Every third weekend required
-
Epic charting system experience preferred
-
13-week assignment length
-
Minimum of 2 years of recent CST experience required
-
BLS certification required
-
NBSTSA or NCCT national certification required
-
Compact or North Carolina license required in hand (if applicable)

Teaching hospital experience preferred
-
Previous travel experience required
-
Experience with gynecological procedures including abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral tubal ligation, C-sections, cervical cerclage, dilation & curettage, laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures, therapeutic abortion, vaginal delivery, and vaginal hysterectomy

Proficiency in aseptic technique, instrument processing, isolation precautions/PPE, sharps safety, specimen handling/labeling, sterilization/disinfection, and universal protocol time out procedures

Experience with case cart, cell saver, crash cart, drills, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and washer/sterilizer equipment

Knowledge of decontamination and sterilization processes and indicators

1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration

Flu vaccine required with no exemptions during flu season
-
Support surgical procedures within a general OR and labor & delivery unit
-
Maintain sterile fields and assist with instrument and equipment preparation
-
Follow fire safety and emergency management protocols
-
Perform sterile processing duties including decontamination and sterilization
-
Orientations occur on a bi-weekly basis
-
First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
-
Candidates previously employed permanently at the facility must not have worked there within the past 6 months
-
Local candidates within 75 miles accepted at a lower bill rate
-
RTO must be submitted at time of consideration, with a maximum of 5-7 days
