- Identify missing information and communicate directly with clients to complete engagements.
- Prepare and confirm estimated tax payments.
- Assist with training and mentoring junior staff and interns.
- Begin reviewing or cross-reviewing tax returns as you grow into the role.
- Participate in tax planning, projections, financial statement preparation, and advisory projects over time.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with closely held businesses and individual tax clients. You should be comfortable taking a client’s books, identifying issues, making adjustments, preparing the return, and communicating directly with the client.
Strong candidates will have:
- 4–5+ years of relevant public accounting, tax, and bookkeeping/accounting experience.
- CPA license or progress toward CPA preferred.
- Experience preparing Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1041, and 990.
- Strong QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop skills.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience with UltraTax or similar professional tax software.
- Ability to analyze income and expense fluctuations and identify unusual items.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities during busy seasons.
- Comfort working directly with clients and taking ownership of assigned engagements.
Experience with Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, CoCounsel, tax research, financial statements, estate/trusts, nonprofits, or advisory engagements is a plus.
