Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including , flatbed, tanker, across over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo integrity and compliance with logistics cargo handling procedures.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and maintain accurate delivery schedules.
- Transport automobile parts, hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, or other specialized freight following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and cargo to identify safety issues or damages.
- Load & unload freight efficiently at various locations, ensuring proper truck loading and unloading techniques are followed.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery records, and compliance documentation in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials regulations, flatbed, tanker, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or other specialized equipment is preferred.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, and hazardous materials handling procedures.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and navigation.
- Strong manual handling skills for loading/unloading freight safely and efficiently.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and compliance at all times.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks associated with truck loading/unloading and cargo handling.
