Job Overview
What we're looking for:
We need someone with 5+ years of experience in Python backend development and AI/LLM systems who has hands-on experience building agentic workflows and multi-agent orchestration. You should be comfortable working in a small, fast-moving startup environment and have a track record of shipping AI-powered products from prototype to production. Bonus points if you have experience with ERP systems, defense tech, or manufacturing software.
Responsibilities
- · Build the LLM orchestration layer using multi-agent frameworks
- · Design agentic workflows that track state, propose actions, and complete multi-step tasks
- · Create structured prompting systems with function-calling, memory, and safety constraints
- · Prototype agent behavior: retries, fallback logic, chained reasoning, reactive flows
- · Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to power natural language-driven UIs
- Evaluate and integrate emerging frameworks for performance, safety, and extensibility
Requirements
- 3 - 10 years of experience (ideally 5 years of experience or greater) in backend-leaning software engineering focused on productionizing AI
- Built multi-agent or agentic LLM systems in production and has worked with foundation model APIs (Gemini, Claude, etc.
- Has worked on evals or measurement of AI system quality
- Expert-level Python backend development
- Hands-on with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
- Has built agentic systems or multi-agent setups - LangChain, LangGraph, Strands, ADK, or any orchestration framework
- Has done RAG, embeddings, or retrieval infrastructure, expanding agent capabilities with structured/unstructured data.
- PostgreSQL, GraphQL, or FastAPI experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or green card holder due to ITAR requirements
Education
MS/PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, or track record of publications / serious research
Pay: $160,000.00 - $235,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in San Diego, CA 92172
