Assistant Manager – Sales & Shop Operations
Hammer & Nails Grooming for Guys – Orlando Market
Hammer & Nails Grooming for Guys is looking for a warm, outgoing, sales-driven Assistant Manager to join our Orlando-area team.
This is a hands-on leadership position that combines membership sales, luxury hospitality, team development, and daily shop operations. The Assistant Manager works closely with the General Manager to lead a team of approximately 15–20 employees, achieve performance goals, maintain operational standards, and deliver an exceptional experience to every member and guest.
The ideal candidate is confident in leading a team, comfortable holding employees accountable, and motivated by measurable results. This person should be equally prepared to coach the front-desk team, close a membership sale, resolve a guest concern, optimize the appointment schedule, and step in wherever leadership is needed.
At least one year of management or supervisory experience is required. Experience in the salon, spa, hospitality, fitness, wellness, or membership-based industry is preferred.
What You’ll Do:
- Drive Membership and Retail Sales
- Lead by example in promoting and selling memberships, services, upgrades, and retail products.
- Help the shop achieve membership, revenue, retention, rebooking, and retail goals.
- Confidently recommend the membership option that best fits each guest’s grooming needs.
- Conduct engaging shop tours that uphold Hammer & Nails’ luxury-brand standards.
- Coach Member Concierges on sales conversations, tour execution, follow-up, and closing techniques.
- Follow up with prospective members and guests to encourage membership enrollment and future appointments.
- Review sales and performance results, identify opportunities, and help develop strategies for improvement.
- Ensure the team understands current memberships, services, promotions, pricing, and products.
Support and Develop the Team
- Assist the General Manager in leading and supporting a team of approximately 15–20 employees.
- Help train, coach, and develop Member Concierges and other team members.
- Set clear expectations and provide timely, professional feedback.
- Monitor employee performance, productivity, attendance, and adherence to shop procedures.
- Support team communication through daily huddles, shift updates, and consistent follow-through.
- Help maintain a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture.
- Serve as the manager on duty when the General Manager is unavailable.
- Assist with addressing employee concerns and documenting coaching or performance issues when necessary.
Deliver an Exceptional Guest Experience
- Create a warm, polished welcome for every member and guest.
- Ensure a smooth experience from arrival and check-in through service, checkout, and rebooking.
- Build relationships with members and guests to encourage loyalty and retention.
- Listen carefully to guest concerns and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
- Clearly explain services, memberships, pricing, policies, and available options.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude that reflects our luxury brand.
- Ensure the entire team consistently delivers a high-quality, “white-glove” experience.
Manage Front-Desk and Shop Operations
- Support daily front-desk responsibilities, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking guests in and out, processing payments, and rebooking services.
- Optimize the appointment schedule to maximize availability, productivity, and revenue.
- Ensure that guest, appointment, and membership information is accurate and up to date in the point-of-sale system.
- Oversee opening and closing procedures and confirm that required daily tasks are completed.
- Assist with inventory management, product ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintaining appropriate supply levels.
- Monitor shop cleanliness, organization, presentation, and compliance with operational standards.
- Maintain proficiency with the shop’s scheduling, point-of-sale, CRM, reporting, and communication systems.
- Work with the General Manager to improve processes, resolve operational challenges, and increase shop efficiency.
- Assist with additional shop responsibilities and special projects as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- At least one year of management, assistant management, or supervisory experience.
- Proven sales ability, preferably in a membership-based or service-focused business.
- Experience coaching employees and holding team members accountable for expectations and results.
- Strong customer service and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
- The ability to read, understand, and act on sales, labor, scheduling, and performance reports.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Confidence handling cash, credit-card transactions, and other basic business calculations.
- Comfort using scheduling software, point-of-sale systems, CRM tools, email, and other digital platforms.
- A dependable, resourceful, energetic, and solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced environment.
