Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional specializing in Homemaker Personal Care! In this vital role, you will empower individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives by providing personalized care and support within their homes and communities. This part-time position consists of afternoon shifts amounting to roughly 5 hours every Thursday for now. There is a potential for increase in hours.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation to promote independence and well-being.
- Provide transportation assistance using a standard passenger car to ensure clients attend appointments, therapy sessions, or community activities safely.
- Support clients with cognitive disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders by implementing behavior management strategies and behavior support plans.
- Collect data on client progress and document care activities accurately for case records and team communication.
- Facilitate communication with clients
- Engage in social work practices by fostering positive client relationships, encouraging social interactions, and supporting emotional health.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices to support client needs effectively.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction, team collaboration, and documentation purposes.
- Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely and responsibly for personal transportation assistance.
- Familiarity with home & community care environments and supporting clients with intellectual disabilities.
- Skills in behavior management techniques to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR to ensure safety during emergencies; experience in medication administration is a plus.
- Compassionate caregiving skills combined with patience, flexibility, and a proactive attitude toward client support.
- This will require DSP initial training or annual training certificate.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
