Who are we looking for?
This field-based role supports mining and oil and gas operations by promoting safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
GHD has an opening in Questa, NM for a Water Treatment Plant Coordinator with experience in mining and oil and gas operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide field safety support for mining and oil and gas projects.
- Lead or support safety meetings, training, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
Develop, implement, monitor, and improve site safety programs.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and client-specific requirements.
Manage and administer permit-to-work programs.
Monitor subcontractor safety performance and field compliance.
- Conduct/support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action tracking.
- Lead site inspections, audits, and HSE assessments.
- Maintain training records and coordinate onboarding and training for employees and visitors.
- Support hazardous waste management and environmental monitoring activities.
- Maintain gas detection equipment and emergency response readiness.
- Participate in Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and support compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Review safety plans, JSAs, and field documentation to support safe project execution.
- Track HSE performance, manage reporting, and support injury case management as needed.
Partner with project teams to promote proactive safety leadership in the field.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Degree or diploma in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of health and safety experience in mining, oil and gas, construction, or other high-hazard operations.
Mining, water treatment, hazardous waste, or industrial operations experience.
OSHA, MSHA, CHST, CSP, or equivalent certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of HSE management systems, risk assessment, incident investigation, and applicable safety regulations.
- Strong communication, field coaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently in the field and travel as needed.
