Senior Civil/Structural Engineer – Long-Term Contract
(Remote, EST/CST Preferred)
Contract Duration: 6–12 months
Work Location: Fully Remote (Preference for candidates located in Eastern or Central time zones)
Pay: Flexible based on experience
We are supporting a major national energy organization on a long-term engineering initiative and are seeking experienced Civil/Structural Engineers to join the project. This work involves complex design efforts for large industrial facilities within the energy sector.
Responsibilities
- Perform design and analysis for concrete and steel structures, heavy-load components, and specialized equipment supports.
- Conduct conceptual studies, design calculations, specification development, cost/planning evaluations, and seismic analyses.
- Build and analyze 3-D structural models using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and response spectra seismic methods.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation related to pipe supports, building modifications, rigging load assessments, and associated structural designs.
- Apply AISC Allowable Stress Design (ASD) methodologies commonly used in regulated industrial environments.
- (Preferred) Perform piping analysis in accordance with ASME B31.1.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proficiency with Mathcad or Matlab.
- Experience with any Finite Element Analysis software package.
Senior-Level Requirements
- Prior design verification qualification/certification under a highly regulated engineering QA program (e.g., similar to 10CFR50 Appendix B environments).
- Strong experience with MathCAD Prime and GTSTRUDL.
- Ability to independently manage advanced structural and piping-related engineering tasks.
