What You’ll Do
In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate high-speed cigarette manufacturing and packaging machines, including loading materials up to 50 lbs.
- Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and production output.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues; respond to alarms and system messages.
- Make mechanical adjustments such as timing, alignment, formatting changes, and component replacement.
- Complete high-level preventative maintenance across multiple technologies and subassemblies.
- Install, commission, and modify manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Support, guide, and train junior technicians and technical personnel.
- Conduct required quality checks and tests per SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Enter maintenance and production data into SAP/CMMS and related systems.
- Order, verify, and track parts and materials; monitor KPIs and respond as needed.
- Set up equipment for multiple products using MES and document management systems.
- Safely work at heights up to 10 feet and operate industrial vehicles and powered lifts.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Mandatory: Prior experience in the cigarette manufacturing industry
- Strong mechanical or electro-mechanical aptitude with advanced repair capability
- Proven ability to diagnose equipment issues and perform corrective maintenance
- Comfortable using computers, including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to meet WorkKeys requirements
- Ability to safely operate industrial vehicles and powered lifts
- Willingness to work and train across multiple shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Industrial Systems Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related field (military experience considered)
- Experience working with SAP or CMMS systems
- Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with teams and vendors
