Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support and care to individuals in various care settings, including assisted living, home health, and community environments. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor patients' health status by observing vital signs and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Provide medication reminders and assist with medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations.
- Support patients during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met while accommodating dietary restrictions.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to safely transfer residents with mobility challenges.
- Document patient progress and update care plans regularly to ensure personalized and effective support.
- Engage clients in social activities and provide companionship to promote mental well-being and reduce feelings of isolation.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in home care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group home settings.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, and basic nursing procedures.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or hospice care is preferred.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks safely while assisting residents with mobility or transfers.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or memory impairments is highly desirable.
