YouthBuild Boston is seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Job Developer to support young adults as they prepare for employment, apprenticeship, further training, and long-term career pathways.
The Job Developer will work directly with participants and alumni to build job readiness, clarify career goals, prepare for interviews, connect with employers, and transition successfully into the workforce. This role will also help maintain strong employer relationships and support participants after placement to encourage retention and advancement.
This is a highly collaborative role. The Job Developer will work closely with case managers, vocational instructors, workforce partners, employers, alumni, and the Director of Programs and Partnerships.

Meet regularly with participants to understand their goals, interests, work history, and readiness for employment.

Support participants in developing career goals and understanding possible pathways in construction, apprenticeship, training, education, and related fields.

Coach participants on professionalism, communication, interview preparation, workplace expectations, and followthrough.

Help participants prepare resumes, practice interviews, and build confidence speaking about their experience.

Support participants in preparing for job fairs, site visits, employer meetings, and interviews.

Connect participants with appropriate employment, apprenticeship, training, education, internship, and other placement opportunities.

Develop and maintain relationships with employer partners in construction, constructionadjacent fields, and other entrylevel employment pathways.

Track employer needs, open positions, hiring timelines, and participant fit.

Prepare participants before employer interviews and follow up afterward.

Work with the Director of Programs and Partnerships on union, boardsupported, and highpriority placement opportunities.

Participate in regular participant evaluations with case managers and vocational instructors.

Contribute to participant service plans by tracking career goals, readiness, resumes, referrals, placement progress, and followup.

Coordinate with partner organizations that provide resume support, mock interviews, certifications, and job readiness coaching.

Help identify guest speakers, employer visits, job shadowing opportunities, and career exposure activities.

Provide structured followup support to participants after placement.

Help participants problemsolve early workplace challenges and remain connected to YBB.

Track employment, education, training, and apprenticeship outcomes.

Collect placement documentation and followup information.

Support alumni who reengage for job search, replacement, or career advancement assistance.

Maintain accurate placement, followup, and employer records.

Document participant progress, employer referrals, placement outcomes, and followup activity.

Prepare regular placement updates and reports for program leadership.

Help track progress toward YBB’s participant placement goals.
The ideal candidate understands that job development is more than finding openings. It is about helping young people become ready for opportunity and helping them keep it once they get there.
This person is organized, steady, relational, and direct. They can build trust with participants and credibility with employers. They believe young people can grow, and they understand that strong preparation, clear expectations, and consistent follow-up make placement more successful.

Two to three years of experience in workforce development, job development, career coaching, case management, employer engagement, or a related field.

Experience working with young adults, especially ages 1824.

Familiarity with construction, building trades, apprenticeships, or workforce training preferred.

Strong communication and relationshipbuilding skills.

Ability to coach young adults with both compassion and accountability.

Strong organization, attention to detail, and followthrough.

Comfort managing multiple participants, partners, deadlines, and employer relationships.

Experience with databases, spreadsheets, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, or similar tools.

Current driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to move files and other office materials, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The person in this position must constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine and printer.
