Position Summary
Legacy Christian Academy is building a pool of qualified 1st–5th Grade Teachers for anticipated openings as enrollment continues to grow.
Grade-level openings will be determined by enrollment needs and candidate experience and fit.
This is a unique opportunity for educators who love teaching children but are looking for a meaningful two-day-per-week classroom position in a Christ-centered environment.
Students attend LCA on Tuesdays and Thursdays and complete guided homeschool assignments with their families during the remainder of the week. Teachers provide engaging classroom instruction, prepare students for their home-learning days, and partner with parents to help students succeed.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging, age-appropriate classroom instruction on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Plan and teach from LCA-provided curriculum and instructional resources.
- Prepare assignments and guidance for students’ home-learning days.
- Maintain a structured, positive, safe, and well-managed classroom.
- Monitor student progress and provide appropriate academic support.
- Communicate clearly with parents regarding assignments, expectations, and student progress.
- Partner with parents within LCA’s hybrid homeschool model.
- Maintain an organized and prepared classroom.
- Work collaboratively with LCA leadership, instructors, aides, and volunteers.
- Participate in chapel, field trips, classroom celebrations, and other academy activities.
- Encourage students academically, socially, and spiritually within a Christ-centered environment.
- Follow all LCA policies, procedures, and student safety expectations.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required.
Previous teaching, tutoring, homeschool instruction, or comparable educational experience is also required.
The ideal candidate:
- Has experience providing academic instruction to elementary-age students.
- Demonstrates strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Is comfortable planning lessons and managing student assignments.
- Communicates professionally and positively with parents.
- Is dependable, prepared, patient, and confident leading a classroom.
- Works well as part of a collaborative educational team.
- Holds a California teaching credential or has formal teacher training preferred, but not required.
- Has experience with homeschool, hybrid, private, or Christian education preferred.
- Can successfully complete all required fingerprinting, background screening, and LCA onboarding requirements.

Legacy Christian Academy is a growing hybrid homeschool program in Downey, California serving elementary-age students.
Students attend campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays for classroom instruction, chapel, recess, enrichment, and community while completing guided homeschool learning with their families during the remainder of the week.
Our goal is to provide families with the academic support and community of a school while preserving many of the benefits and flexibility of homeschooling.

Some lesson planning, grading, preparation, and parent communication may occur outside regular campus hours.
