What You'll Do
- Provide behind-the-wheel instruction in a calm, professional environment
- Help students develop safe driving habits and confidence
- Follow Jungle Driving School's curriculum and lesson plans
- Provide clear, constructive feedback and coaching
- Communicate professionally with students and parents when needed
- Represent the school with professionalism and care
Who We're Looking For
- Certified Iowa Instructors (preferred): Current Iowa-certified Behind-the-Wheel Instructors may begin teaching after completing onboarding, required screenings and approval to instruct.
- Candidates Seeking Certification: Candidates who are committed to completing Iowa's instructor certification process may also be considered. Selected candidates may be eligible for certification sponsorship, subject to a written agreement.
Qualifications
- At least 25 years old
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record that meets Iowa DOT standards
- Ability to pass a background check and motor vehicle record review
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and remain alert during instruction
- Available to work afternoons, evenings and/or weekends
- Reliable transportation
- Current Iowa Behind the Wheel instructor certification, or willingness to complete the certification process before beginning paid instruction
Pay & Certification Path
- $23-$26 per hour, based on certification status, experience, availability and instructional background.
- Certified Iowa Behind-the-Wheel Instructors may be eligible for up to a $1,500 bonus, subject to eligibility requirements and business needs.
Iowa certification is required before providing paid behind-the-wheel instruction. For selected candidates who are not currently certified, Jungle Driving School may sponsor the cost of required certification coursework, subject to a written sponsorship agreement.
Please note that certification is not a quick, one-time online course. The process takes several weeks and includes coursework, assignments, preparation and behind-the-wheel training with a qualified instructor. All certification requirements must be completed on the candidate's own time before paid instruction can begin.
Schedule
- This is a flexible part-time position.
- Hours will increase as student demand grows. Dependable instructors with strong availability and performance will receive priority for additional lesson opportunities.
- This position may not be the best fit for candidates seeking immediate full-time employment or a guaranteed weekly schedule.
Employment Screening
Because instructors work with minors and operate motor vehicles, employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, motor vehicle record review, and other applicable screenings, which may include drug testing.
