Job Summary
The Hotel Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the proper operation and appearance of guest rooms, public areas, and hotel facilities. The ideal candidate should have hands-on maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing a safe and comfortable environment for hotel guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of guest rooms and hotel facilities.
- Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, toilets, sinks, faucets, showers, drains, and water lines.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues such as outlets, switches, lights, lamps, and other basic electrical components.
- Repair or replace door locks, door closers, hinges, handles, bathroom fixtures, furniture, and other room hardware.
- Perform basic HVAC troubleshooting, including thermostats, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation issues.
- Repair drywall, patch holes, touch up paint, and perform basic carpentry work.
- Replace light bulbs, batteries, smoke detector batteries, and other maintenance items as needed.
- Respond promptly to guest-room maintenance requests and work orders.
- Inspect vacant rooms for maintenance issues before rooms are released for occupancy.
- Maintain hotel public areas, hallways, back-of-house areas, and other assigned areas.
- Assist with emergency maintenance situations and respond to urgent calls when required.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and report major problems to the Chief Engineer or management.
- Follow all hotel safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and applicable local building and fire codes.
- Keep maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping and Front Desk regarding room repairs and room availability.
- Perform other maintenance duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Previous hotel, apartment, commercial building, or general maintenance experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs safely and efficiently.
- Ability to use common hand and power tools.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when needed.
- Reliable transportation is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and carry maintenance equipment and materials.
- Ability to safely use ladders and basic power tools.
- Ability to work in guest rooms, mechanical areas, and other hotel environments.
Preferred Skills
- Hotel maintenance experience.
- Basic electrical and plumbing knowledge.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and work-order systems.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
