As a server at Beacon, you represent the standards of our company to our guests. Your position is paramount to the success of our restaurant and satisfaction of our only true bosses—the guests. It is our goal to make Beacon a great place to work for our employees and a fun and consistently enjoyable atmosphere for our guests. Most importantly, we desire a symbiotic relationship between our guests and staff so that everyone enjoys being a part of Beacon.
Your primary objective is to ensure the satisfaction of our guests. This will only be achieved if you arrive to work on time in proper uniform, clear headed, ready to work hard, learn, seek improvement, show patience and perseverance during adversity, and have a willingness to be a positive part of our team. We will work with you on development and will be open to improve on our end to make sure everyone is promoting a positive and successful work environment.
Overall, you will be responsible for greeting guests, guiding them through the Beacon experience, thanking them, and providing a genuine invitation back to see us again while upholding the standards of the restaurant.
This includes:
- Greeting every guest, not only in your section, but everyone that walks in the building with a warm smile and “Hello.”
- Becoming knowledgeable about our restaurant, food and beverages, returning guests’ preferences, upcoming events, etc.
- Showing genuine interest and concern in the guest experience. At Beacon, you will not have a script to follow, however, it will be your responsibility to determine how to approach, guide, and customize the needs of every guest.
Your day-to-day duties are as follows:
- Arrive to work on time, in a clean uniform, and prepared to work, focused and free from outside distractions.
- Treat every guest and co-worker with the respect you would like to receive.
- Guide guests through the Beacon experience including making recommendations, determining food and beverage needs and preferences, and doing so in a timely and friendly manner.
- Input orders efficiently and correctly, in line with the standards and policies of Beacon.
- Perform all the outlined tasks in your job description but it is imperative that you understand that you are not limited to the tasks outlined and are required to assist with all tasks in which you can complete,both physically, legally and in line with company standards.
Tasks
- Clean and maintain your section at all times, along with assisting all other FOH staff regarding dining room operations.
- Greet guests within the standard time-frame outlined in steps of service.
- Follow all opening, running and closing checklists, including: side work, and check out procedures.
