Duties
- Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones using clear hand signals or signage
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols by monitoring site activities and alerting workers of approaching vehicles or hazards
- Communicate effectively with equipment operators, construction crews, and site visitors to coordinate safe movements
- Assist in setting up and removing traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, and signage
- Observe the work area for potential safety issues and report concerns promptly to site supervisors
- Maintain a high level of visibility by wearing appropriate safety gear at all times during shifts
- Support overall site safety efforts by adhering to OSHA regulations and company policies
Experience
- Prior experience in construction sites or traffic control roles is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, or dump trucks is a plus
- Knowledge of utility locating and basic construction practices enhances your effectiveness on the job
- Ability to quickly learn and follow safety procedures related to paving, grading, and heavy machinery use
- Strong communication skills to clearly direct traffic and coordinate with team members
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk across uneven terrain, and wear safety gear comfortably
- Valid certifications related to traffic control or construction safety are advantageous but not mandatory
