Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment to ensure efficient and safe manufacturing operations. This role sets up machinery, monitors production runs, performs quality checks, and troubleshoots minor mechanical issues. The Machine Operator works closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure products are manufactured according to company standards while meeting production targets and maintaining a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor manufacturing and packaging machinery according to established procedures.
- Set up equipment and perform changeovers to support production schedules.
- Inspect products and materials to ensure quality standards are met.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust settings as necessary to maintain efficiency.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and escalate larger problems to maintenance.
- Maintain accurate production records including output, downtime, and scrap.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Follow GMP’s and food safety requirements.
- Ensure machines and work areas remain clean and organized.
- Follow all safety procedures including proper use of PPE and equipment safeguards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and quality.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience operating machinery in manufacturing or packaging environments preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to read and follow production work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
Preferred Skills
- Experience operating packaging equipment such as case packers, palletizers, conveyors, or automated machinery.
- Familiarity with manufacturing metrics such as throughput, scrap, and downtime.
- Ability to perform basic machine adjustments and minor maintenance tasks.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in manufacturing environments with machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
