TriRiver Water is the name and brand by which the City of Sanford will provide water and sewer utility services on a regional basis. TriRiver will deliver high-quality water and wastewater services that not only cater to the needs of the present, but also the demands of the future. The WROI will work with Pittsboro and City of Sanford customers to perform the following duties:
Operating a water reclamation treatment plant and performing general plant and grounds maintenance tasks; maintaining records and logs. Work schedule is primarily 1st shift (8AM – 4PM Monday – Friday) and every other weekend (12-hour shifts Saturday and Sunday, (midnight-noon or noon-midnight)). Coverage of alternate shifts and holidays as assigned.

Conducts tours of plant and checks engines, generators, pumps, tanks, filters, valves and other equipment for proper functioning.

Records readings from meters, instruments and computers.

Regulates and adjusts motors, pumps, blowers, valves and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions.

Collects samples of wastewater effluent; performs tests such as chlorine residuals, pH, etc.

Performs minor maintenance and lubrication on equipment; cleans and services pumps, motors and other equipment; calibrates and cleans meters to ensure proper operation.

Operates solids handling equipment; runs gravity belt thickener; adjusts flow, polymer and belt speed settings.

Pumps scum pits and wet wells as needed.

Performs scheduled and emergency operations as needed.

Performs general custodial and grounds maintenance work.

Monitors septage haulers when on facility site.

Answers phones and greets visitors; directs them to the proper individual.

Performs related work as required.

We are looking for a detailed individual with some knowledge of the operating characteristics and maintenance requirements of a water reclamation treatment plant; some knowledge of hydraulic, chemical and mechanical principles pertinent to water reclamation treatment plant operations; some knowledge of occupational hazards of the work and of necessary safety precautions; some knowledge in preparing reports and related documents; some knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software; ability to detect flaws in the operation of mechanical equipment and to determine proper remedial measures; ability to conduct routine laboratory tests; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to read meters and charts accurately and to maintain records of shift operations; skill in the use and care of hand tools; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
The position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Possession of a valid NC driver’s license upon hire. Must obtain North Carolina Grade I Wastewater Treatment Operator certification within one year of employment. Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.
