Position Overview:
Line cooks assist the Kitchen Manager with all responsibilities aligned to the Back of the House operations of the restaurant. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Quality and Standards:
· executing proper sanitation practices and safety procedures
· ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen (e.g., ensuring that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized throughout and at the end of shifts)
· ensuring food quality by adhering to company guidelines, processes, and standards (e.g., properly storing food items at appropriate temperatures)
· ensuring all storage areas are organized and all supplies are stored appropriately while using safe and sanitary food handling practices
· ensuring preparation of all foods / presentation are up to standards
· measuring and assembling ingredients for menu items
· resolving food quality issues
Kitchen Operations
· opening and closing the kitchen according to company guidelines, and Dept. of Health standards
· preparing ingredients for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, preparing poultry and meat, preparing sides)
· cooking menu items in coordination with the rest of the kitchen staff
· ensuring food orders come out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
· continuously streamlining speed of service and food preparation without sacrificing quality
· communicating with team members as necessary to ensure timeliness of orders
· collaborating with the kitchen staff to prepare meals received thru multiple 3rd party platforms
· setting up and stocking stations with necessary supplies, ensuring kitchen is stocked for subsequent shifts
· ensuring kitchen equipment is used in accordance with safety standards & instructions
· ensuring kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition
· escalating issues with malfunctioning equipment
Qualifications:
· Work authorization required
· Minimum 1 year of experience in a full-service restaurant
· Experience in high volume Fryer, Grill, Sauté stations
· Familiarity with all major food prep techniques, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
· Organization and accuracy and speed in executing tasks
· Knife skills are a must
· Able to work ten hour-plus shifts
· Able to stand, sit, squat, or walk for extended periods of time
· Able to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
· Able to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
· Dependable and motivated with a strong work ethic
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Food Handler’s Certification a Plus
