Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, vital signs measurement, and medical history documentation using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all medical supplies are stocked and organized for daily procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy and medication administration under supervision, adhering to safety protocols and pharmacology guidelines.
- Support patient care by explaining procedures, providing pre- and post-treatment instructions, and addressing patient questions with professionalism.
- Manage medical records accurately, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures, ensuring compliance with health information privacy laws.
Requirements
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program; prior experience in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine is highly preferred, doctors office.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and medical documentation practices; familiarity with ICD coding and anatomy/physiology knowledge is essential.
- Hands-on experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs collection, and medical assisting procedures.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, records management, and outpatient/inpatient care protocols.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hospital or Level I/II trauma center experience is a plus.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations; ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments such as ORs or PICU settings.
