How You Can Make a Difference
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our organization. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and a commitment to maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records. As a Staff Accountant you will collaborate with various departments and contribute to the overall success of the company by ensuring compliance with financial regulations and providing valuable insights through financial analysis.
This is a hybrid role that will be in our Midvale office usually one day per week (Wednesdays).
What You’ll Be Doing
· General Ledger Management: Maintain financial records and accounts, recording all financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner
· Accounts Payable and Receivable: Support and backup for processing invoices, issuing payments, management of accounts receivable to ensure prompt collections and adherence to payment terms
· Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements; and own certain month-end tasks
· Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for CBG and affiliated entities
· Policies and Procedures: Write and maintain accounting policies and procedures
· Payroll: Support and backup for payroll processing, register with states for withholding and unemployment insurances as needed
· Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations (e.g. Property taxes, Sales & Use taxes, 1098 and 1099 Reporting, W-2 reviews, providing support to external tax accountants, etc.)
· Audit Support: Prepare audit schedules and documentation; assists with responses to auditor requests and support Financial, SOC, and NACHA audits
· Internal Controls: Help maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
· Compliance: Stay updated on accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices
· Unclaimed Property: Monitors and tracks payments to vendors and pharmacies, resolves payment issues, and reports uncashed checks as required for unclaimed property
· NACHA Compliance: Works with Controller to establish procedures and policies for NACHA audit compliance
What You Need To Be Successful
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and skillsets in Accounting or Finance
· Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
· Ability to understand process significance and propose innovative improvements
· Comfortable using Claude AI, and knows when it's appropriate to leverage it
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
· Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and communicate financial information clearly
· Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
· 1-3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role
· Prior experience with preparing financial statements, audit schedules, and tax filings
· Experience with NetSuite or a similar accounting system preferred
· Master’s degree or MBA in Accounting or Finance
· Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) are advantageous but not mandatory
Shift Details
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during “core” work hours to meet the needs of our business. Extended hours, weekends and holidays may be required pursuant with industry and client demands.
