Dixie Pig Bar-B-Q is looking for an experienced, dependable Prep Cook to join our kitchen team.
This position is responsible for getting our kitchen ready for service every day. We're looking for someone who works clean, stays organized, follows recipes accurately, and can knock out a prep list efficiently without needing constant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily prep lists accurately and on time
- Prepare vegetables, meats, sauces, sides, and other ingredients
- Portion and label products according to restaurant standards
- Follow recipes and batch-preparation procedures consistently
- Use knives and commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with preparing BBQ meats for smoking and cooking
- Maintain proper food rotation, labeling, and storage
- Follow FIFO and food-safety procedures
- Keep prep areas, equipment, coolers, and storage areas clean and organized
- Assist the line and kitchen team when needed
- Complete cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the shift
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant prep experience required
- Strong knife and food-preparation skills
- Comfortable following recipes, measurements, and portion specifications
- Able to work independently and manage a daily prep list
- Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation
- Able to work quickly without sacrificing quality or consistency
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to stand for extended periods
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- BBQ or meat-preparation experience preferred
- Pitmaster/smoker experience is a plus
