Position Overview
As a Utility Meter Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading utility meters (water/gas) for Memphis Light, Gas, and Water (MLGW). This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, have strong attention to detail, and take pride in hands-on work that benefits the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently upgrade water and gas utility meters.
- Accurately read and record meter data.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure compliance and quality work.
- Communicate professionally with utility customers.
- Operate a company-supplied work vehicle safely.
- Receive and return tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Must allow a drug test, background check, and motor vehicle records check.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and walk long distances throughout the day.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Familiarity with electronic devices (smartphones, handheld tools, etc.).
- Ability to use basic hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.).
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while being part of a local team.
- Reliable transportation to and from work and consistent attendance on required workdays.
