Duties
- Safely operate buses across designated routes, adhering strictly to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
- Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, providing wheelchair assistance and support for seniors or individuals with disabilities.
- Maintain a clean, well-maintained vehicle by conducting pre-trip inspections and reporting mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including emergency stop procedures and child or passenger safety protocols.
- Manage passenger behavior using effective behavior management techniques and enforce school or transit policies to ensure a safe environment.
- Communicate clearly with passengers using effective communication skills, including bilingual or multilingual abilities when applicable.
- Respond quickly to traffic changes or unforeseen delays, adjusting routes as necessary to maintain schedule integrity.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for bus operation.
- Proven experience in bus driving, including Luxury coach buses.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse communities effectively.
- Experience working with children or senior citizens is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform mechanical knowledge tasks related to vehicle maintenance.
