Position Summary
The Rental Route Manager / Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the daily scheduling, routing, and dispatching of drivers for portable restrooms, roll-off dumpsters, temporary fencing, and related rental equipment.
This position serves as a key communication hub between drivers, customers, Customer Service, Sales, and the Operations team to ensure deliveries, pickups, recurring services, and service requests are completed accurately, on time, and in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable making real-time decisions to keep daily operations running smoothly. This role also provides leadership and support to service drivers, including monitoring performance, promoting safety and service standards, and assisting with driver training and development.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatching, Scheduling & Routing
- Use ServiceCore to accurately schedule, dispatch, estimate, manage, and track jobs.
- Schedule and dispatch portable restroom, roll-off dumpster, temporary fence, and related equipment deliveries, services, swaps, and pickups.
- Develop and optimize daily driver routes using routing software, mapping tools, driver availability, service requirements, and geographic location.
- Review daily schedules and routes to ensure work is assigned appropriately and completed as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
- Monitor driver progress throughout the day and make adjustments as needed due to delays, traffic, equipment issues, customer requests, or other operational changes.
- Handle emergencies, same-day, and last-minute scheduling changes effectively while minimizing disruption to existing routes.
- Maintain strong knowledge of ASR service areas, traffic patterns, customer locations, and routing considerations.
Driver Communication & Route Management
- Maintain real-time communication with drivers throughout the workday to monitor progress and address questions or service issues.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers regarding routes, job instructions, customer requests, access issues, and schedule changes.
- Communicate clear and accurate job expectations and special instructions to drivers.
- Track job completion and follow up on incomplete, missed, or unsuccessful services.
- Review and report driver performance, missed services, service verification, and recurring operational concerns.
- Work with Operations leadership to identify opportunities to improve route efficiency, productivity, and service quality.
- Hold weekly service driver meetings to promote a strong safety, accountability, and customer-service culture.
Customer & Internal Communication
- Serve as a communication link between drivers, customers, Customer Service, Sales, and Operations.
- Receive and communicate customer orders, changes, and service requests received through [email protected], phone, email, ServiceCore, and internal team communication.
- Provide timely updates regarding deliveries, pickups, service delays, access issues, or changes affecting customer service.
- Coordinate closely with Sales and Operations to prioritize customer needs while maintaining efficient daily operations.
- Address service issues and customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Escalate significant customer, driver, safety, or operational issues to management when appropriate.
ServiceCore, Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in ServiceCore.
- Ensure jobs are properly scheduled, assigned, updated, and completed within the system.
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, customer communications, route changes, service tickets, driver logs, and other operational documentation.
- Review completed jobs for accuracy and identify missing or incomplete information.
- Track and report missed services, unsuccessful delivery or pickup attempts, service verification, and other route-related issues.
- Assist management with operational and driver performance reporting as needed.
Driver Leadership, Safety & Training
- Promote compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable DOT regulations.
- Reinforce safe driving, equipment handling, service, and jobsite practices.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of driver training materials.
- Help train and support new and existing drivers on routing procedures, ServiceCore expectations, customer service standards, and company processes.
- Identify recurring performance or training issues and communicate them to Operations management.
- Promote accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and a high level of customer service among drivers.
- Attend approximately two industry-related conferences or training events per year to maintain and expand product, operational, and industry knowledge.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or additional education preferred.
- Previous experience in dispatching, routing, logistics, transportation, rental operations, or a similar operational role preferred.
- Experience in the portable sanitation, waste, construction rental, or equipment rental industry is a plus.
- Experience managing or providing day-to-day direction to drivers or field employees preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.

- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, dispatch/routing software, and mapping applications.
- Experience with ServiceCore is preferred.
- Valid driver's license preferred.

- Ability to occasionally lift and move office supplies or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
Position Expectations
The Rental Route Manager / Dispatcher is expected to take ownership of daily routing and dispatch operations and proactively identify and resolve issues before they negatively impact customers or field operations.
Success in this position requires balancing customer service, driver productivity, safety, route efficiency, operational cost, and timely completion of scheduled work while maintaining clear communication between all departments involved in the rental and service process.
Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
